This release of Theatre in Video brings together 279 titles, representing hundreds of leading playwrights, actors and directors, including all 37 of the legendary BBC Shakespeare productions. Also included in this release are live performances, as well as film documentaries, covering the pre-eminent names in theatre: Henrik Ibsen, Eugene O'Neill, Arthur Miller, Samuel Beckett, Edward Albee, Luigi Pirandello, Harold Pinter, Bertolt Brecht, Laurence Olivier, Stella Adler, Konstantin Stanislavsky, Tennessee Williams, and many more. Seminal productions here include works such as Master Builder, Tartuffe, The Iceman Cometh, Medea, Playboy of the Western World, King Lear, Long Day's Journey into Night, The Orestia, and Six Characters in Search of an Author, among many others.

Multiple productions of Shakespeare's plays will allow for comparative analysis, showing various interpretations of the text and technical and cultural differences among the presentations. The stage work of legendary directors and actors are together for the first time, cross-searchable and available for side-by-side comparison. Interviews with directors, designers, writers and actors, along with excerpts of live performances.
